Mindfulness Meditation & Life Skills Program [7 Sessions]. The purpose of the program is to facilitate an understanding about important aspects and (health) benefits of Mindfulness Meditation. The aim is to promote a better self-knowledge and gain more insight about the interactions with self, others and the environment at large. Mindfulness Meditation is more than “just meditation” and requires a solid foundation in ethics. Regardless of personal circumstances, the program is designed to encourage participants to take up a meditation practice and adopt a reflective attitude of self-enquiry. The class format is suitable for beginners and regular meditation practitioners alike.
The program is non-religious, though there will be frequent references to Buddhist aspects due to historical reasons.
The program can be divided into four categories, namely:
• The origins of Mindfulness Meditation
• The practice and benefits of Mindfulness Meditation
• The use of Mindfulness in daily living
• The approach and foundation of Mindfulness Meditation
Each meditation session will comprise of
• a presentation (plus Q & A)
• pre-meditative exercises
• meditation practice (instructions, self-exploratory and guided meditations)
• debriefing (plus Q & A)
• take home exercises
